Chandler · Planning & Zoning Commission · October 21, 2026 · Case PLH26-0012

Chandler's Planning and Zoning Commission on October 21 recommended approval of one of the largest multifamily requests in the city's Price Road employment corridor this year, without a word of public discussion. The Station at Park Place was item 2 on the commission's consent agenda, reviewed during the study session before the meeting and approved in a single unanimous vote with the rest of the consent items. Because the commission is a recommending body, the case now moves to City Council, where the public can comment before a final decision.

Who is behind it

Why staff supported it

Allred Park Place covers about 180 acres: 1.8 million square feet of Class A offices (Northrop Grumman, Toyota, Voya and others), 760 hotel rooms with a 20,000-square-foot conference center, and about 20,000 square feet of retail. It is about 90% built out, with 31.7 acres left; this case covers 17.7 of them.

The South Price Road Corridor has been reserved since 2001 for high-tech employment in a campus setting. The Chandler 2026 General Plan, adopted by voters in July 2026 with 83.95% approval, added policy SPRCGA 7, which allows urban residential densities when they are vertically mixed with ground-floor uses serving employees and residents and remain "ancillary to and subordinate part of a larger employment campus." Staff found the proposal consistent with that policy and said it "completes the remnant parcels of the Allred Park Place business park" while adding housing for nearby employees.

What's next

City Council will hold the final hearing. If approved, about 14 acres would remain undeveloped in Allred Park Place.

Why notable: a 669-unit multifamily entitlement in Chandler's prime employment corridor, made possible by a brand-new General Plan policy, cleared the commission on consent with no discussion. Consent approval signals no known opposition, not small stakes.
